For over two decades the hospitality industry has been a deep passion and focus of mine. The art of creating joyful and memorable experiences was cultivated from my childhood, when my mom would entertain with ease from everyday visitors to large family gatherings. Although I always enjoyed helping my mom and baking from scratch, I actually fell into the industry on a whim, and looking back it was exactly where I needed to be.
From my first job in the pastry department at Gourmet Caterers in Roslindale, MA to my four years at Newbury College in Brookline, MA where I studied culinary management and pastry arts, all the jobs in between, the restaurants where I learned the art of plated desserts, then branching out on my own with farmers markets and custom cakes, and accomplishing a life long dream when my husband Brian and I opened Servente Bakery Cafe in Needham, MA, has been a whirlwind.
I’ve always said this industry is a love, hate relationship, cause the rewards have always outweighed the risks. After selling our Bakery Cafe I realized that what I missed most was connecting with people, and conversing over good food, hot coffee and something sweet.
This next chapter of my life I want to utilize the gifts God gave me and teach others to embrace the joy of hospitality. May my content welcome you into my life and home, may it inspire you to cook, bake and decorate seasonally, and may you find your inner hostess while you entertain daily visitors to large gatherings. I have always heard that your home is a reflection of yourself, so may your guests feel welcomed, may the conversations be uplifting, the food comforting, your coffee hot and something sweet ready to be enjoyed on the counter.
